New Beginnings, Mercies, and Months

Onward Christian soldier. You’ve got this! Don’t become distracted by the cares of this world, even when they seem enormous (like Super Tuesday, a lingering cough, a ginormous tax bill, or a mountain of laundry). Don’t you know we follow the LORD of hosts, the God of angel armies? Keep your eyes on Jesus!

There. We all need a pep talk now and then, especially after a challenging month. God ALWAYS knows exactly what He is doing. I love how He gives us new beginnings. All. The. Time. Has winter been dreary? Take heart! Spring is just a few short weeks away! Was February brutal? Good news! March is a fresh, new month! Is the week full of loss and regret? Guess what? Sunday’s coming! A new week full of promise! Ready to throw in the towel after today? Savor a night of rest, and get ready to embrace a new day! For God’s mercies are new every morning, great indeed is His faithfulness! (Lamentations 3:22-24)

Did you just mess up big time? Or perhaps life is “messing you up” big time, through no fault of your own. Feeling hopeless, weary, wounded? Don’t give up. Don’t give in. God has promised to never leave or abandon you. (Hebrews 13:5)

Unfortunately, Satan is always right there, ready to whisper those destructive thoughts that flood your heart and mind: “Such a loser. No one loves you. It’s never going to get better. Why keep trying? No one cares.”

STOP right there and recognize that those thoughts are not God’s thoughts. Those are straight from the pits of hell. DROP to your knees. ROLL out your Bible, or Bible app (hey, you can carry the “sword of the Spirit” with you wherever you go now!), and replace those ugly, hellish lies with God’s truths:

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” ~ 1 Corinthians 15:57  Jesus gives us victory!

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world–our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” ~ 1 John 5:4-5  We will overcome this world!

” ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.’ ” ~ John 3:16  God loves you with a deep, bottomless, sacrificial love! Have you accepted His gift of everlasting life through Jesus?

” ‘As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.’ ” ~ John 15:9  Jesus loves you. Stay in that thought. Abide there. Pitch a tent.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” ~ Romans 8:28  God has promised to use ALL THINGS for good.

“But I will hope continually, and will praise You yet more and more.” ~ Psalm 71:14  I WILL– I choose to hope and praise. Do a study of hope in the Psalms. You will be encouraged and blessed!

“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” ~ Romans 5:5  Our hope will never disappoint! We have God’s love and Spirit in our hearts!

“For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.” ~ Romans 15:4  Get into God’s Word! Find the patience, comfort, and hope  that is there.

“because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel,” ~ Colossians 1:5  We have the hope of heaven, and that’s the truth!

” ‘Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.’ “~ John 14:1-3  Jesus promised we will join Him in heaven! We even have our own homes waiting for us!

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints–” ~ Ephesians 6:17-18  Armor up and persevere in prayer!

” ‘Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.’ ” ~ Revelation 3:10  God is going to snatch us out of and away from this earth– He has promised this!

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” ~ 1 Peter 5:6-8  Throw all of your cares upon God. He truly does care for you! And beware of Satan, who  is a ruthless, devouring enemy. We must be vigilant. We must trust in God, stay in His Word, and pray!

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy–meditate on these things.” ~ Philippians 4:8  Fill your heart, mind, and soul with truth, nobility, justice, purity, loveliness, goodness, virtuousness, and praiseworthiness! Think on these things, not on the mire and filth of this broken world.

Need a fresh start today? Go to God. He will restore you. Need a relationship with Jesus? He’s waiting for you– here’s more info.

“Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. ‘The LORD is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘therefore I hope in Him!’ ” ~ Lamentations 3:22-24
