What Shall We Write?

“I will extol You, my God, O King; and I will bless Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts…The LORD is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy. The LORD is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works. All Your works shall praise You, O LORD, and Your saints shall bless You. They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom, and talk of Your power, to make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of His kingdom.” ~ Psalm 145:1-4, 8-12

Those of us who have personally accepted Jesus as our Lord and Saviour possess the most priceless of treasures: the hope and promise of salvation and everlasting life secure in the arms of God Almighty. Forgiveness of sins, protection from eternal death, peace, joy, provision, and strength are just some of the benefits we reap.

The LORD’s graciousness and compassion, patience and mercy, goodness and glory should invoke praises and blessings from our lips. And from our very lives. Do we walk in a manner that blesses the name of God forever and ever? Do we choose to praise Him, each and every day, regardless of our circumstances? Do we tell other generations of the mighty and merciful things God has done for us? Do we make sure that the lost around us know about Jesus, and “the glorious majesty of His kingdom”?

This is Day 2 of a fresh new book, with 366 pages to fill. While we have opportunity, we should declare on those pages the graciousness and compassion, patience and mercy, goodness and glory of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Tell other generations of God’s mighty acts! Talk of His power and the glorious majesty of His kingdom!

A song from my childhood just popped into my head, one I’ve not heard or sung for several decades:

Untold  millions are still untold

Untold millions are still outside the fold

Who will tell them of Jesus’ love

And the heavenly mansions awaiting above

Jesus died on Calvary to save each one from sin

Now he calls to you and to me

To go and bring them in

For many untold millions are still untold

Untold millions are outside the fold

Who will tell them of Jesus’ love

And the heavenly mansions awaiting above

(Untold Millions, written by Franklin F. Ellis)
Who will tell them of Jesus’ love, if not you and I?

Out of 100 men, one will read the Bible, the other 99 will read the Christian.” –D.L. Moody

Let’s write a book in 2016–with our lives–that is worth reading, one of eternal worth!
