Going to Battle for a Friend

I have the best hair stylist on the planet. Okay, at least in my city. She does an incredible job with my hair, yes, but more importantly she cares about me and my family.

We have known each other for over 21 years. My youngest son’s and daughter’s first hair cuts were given by her. (As they grew older, she had to bribe them to sit still with gumballs!) We have shared from our mamas’ hearts through the years, laughing and crying together. She is truly a dear friend.

Last night I was blessed to sit once more in her chair, to listen to her share the latest in her life, and in turn share what’s happening in mine. The past two years have been incredibly difficult for her. The past two years haven’t been a picnic for me, either. But I’ve noticed something. Each of us has been driven to the foot of the cross because of heart aches, devastation, and the shock-and-awe of living in this fallen world. Each of us has grown closer to our Lord and Saviour. And each of us is now regularly praying for the other.

Oh, what a precious gift to give, the gift of prayer! True, taking-the-battle-to-our-Commander-in-Chief prayer.

Have you ever felt, really felt that someone was lifting you up to the Father in prayer? It is an incredible feeling of peace that truly surpasses all understanding.

Are you hurting? Do you know of someone who desperately needs what only God can give? Pray. Pray. PRAY.

Surround yourself with everyday prayer warrior wanna-be’s. Make it a daily habit to spend some time with your Heavenly Father in prayer. We can’t do this on our own, people. We need each other, and we need Jesus. Oh, how we need Jesus!

“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy,” ~ Philippians 1:3-4

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” ~ James 5:16

“praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints–” ~ Ephesians 6:18

“We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,” ~ Colossians 1:3

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 4:19

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” ~ Galatians 6:2

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up.” ~ Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Thank you for this godly encouragement to pray. May God bless us by His Holy Spirit to spend much time every day before His Throne of Grace.
