Costly Redemption of a Soul

“Hear this, all peoples; give ear, all inhabitants of the world, both low and high, rich and poor together.” ~ Psalm 49:1-2

We are all people, no matter what color, gender, shape or size, no matter what nationality, whether rich or poor ~ we are all people. We are all created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27), we are all fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). No one is better than another ~ “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” ~ Romans 3:10 (KJV) We are all hopeless losers ~ “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” ~ Romans 3:23 (KJV) ~ without Jesus.

We are all in need of a Saviour.

“For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” ~ Romans 6:23 (KJV)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” ~ John 3:16-17 (KJV)

All we have to do is accept this gift of salvation and grace ~ unearned, undeserved forgiveness, mercy, and love. Pick up the package and open it. Accept it and receive it. Jesus already bought it for you, with His death on the cross as payment for every sin committed and to be committed. It is paid in full. You alone can make the choice to have your own debt wiped away and to be free of it, living in the grace and righteousness of Jesus. No one else can choose this for you.

“No man can by any means redeem his brother, or give to God a ransom for him- for the redemption of his soul is costly, and he should cease trying forever-…
But God will redeem my soul…” ~ Psalm 49:7-8, 15a

Nothing we could ever do would be enough to redeem us. Ever. Nothing, except accepting the costly gift Jesus already gave- His own life- so that God can redeem our souls through Jesus.

And this is why we celebrate this most joyful and beautiful of seasons, Christmas!

“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” ~ Luke 2:8-11 (KJV)

Good tidings of great joy, to all people. Our Saviour, Messiah, Jesus, a baby born to die. For us. For you and for me. Have you accepted His gift to you? Oh, make this a very Merry Christmas and receive the Saviour as your own! 🙂
