He Loves Us

He is jealous for me, loves like a hurricane, I am the tree,
bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy,
when all of a sudden, I am unaware, of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
and I realize just how beautiful You are and how great Your affections are for me.
And oh, how He loves us, oh,
oh, how He loves us, how He loves us, oh

~ from “How He Loves” by the David Crowder Band

My iPod alarm woke me up with this song. It was a gentle reminder that my heavenly Father loves me, and oh, how I need those reminders!

It has been a long week, filled with the usual mix of busyness, delights, disappointments, joys, hurts, love, stress, tears, and laughter that make up life here on this earth. What a comfort to remember God loves us! It doesn’t matter what color, shape, size, gender, vocation, I.Q., we are~ God loves us!

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” ~ John 3:16 (KJV)
God so loves us that Jesus died for us, so that we can have life in Him!

“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in [his] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.” ~ Ephesians 2:4-7 (KJV)
We can do nothing to earn God’s love or forgiveness. He gives it freely, with His mercy and grace. We simply need to accept and receive it. And soak in His love and kindness.

“As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love…
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” ~ John 15:9, 13 (KJV)
Jesus freely laid down His life for us. He loves us THAT much!

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” ~ Romans 5:8 (KJV)
We aren’t worthy or deserving, but God has ALWAYS loved us!

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?…
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ~ Romans 8:35, 38-39 (KJV)
NOTHING can ever keep God’s love from us. NOTHING.

“And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” ~ Ephesians 3:19 (KJV)
It is beyond my understanding how You love me, God.

“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.” ~ 1 John 3:1 (KJV)
Those of us who have accepted His Son Jesus, are children of God.

“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another…
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him…
We love him, because he first loved us.” ~ 1 John 4:9-11, 16, 19 (KJV)
Help us to love You, God, and all the people around us, with the love You have freely lavished upon us!

Oh! How He loves us! Oh! 🙂
