Praying With Every Breath

So you wanna help change the world, but you don’t have the money to sponsor a child. You have never felt the call to a faraway land and don’t have the “know-how” to be a teacher. What can you do?

Pray, and save your *pocket change!

First of all, yet last on most of our lists, you can pray! Why do we sometimes feel like that is not enough? Why do we worry, stress, and strive before turning to our Father in heaven, pouring out our hearts in prayer? Crazy people that we are, we forget that the Bible tells us time and again to pray!

Jesus told us how and where we should pray.

“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” ~ Matthew 6:6 (KJV)

Jesus modeled a life of prayer.

“And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.” ~ Matthew 14:23 (KJV)

Jesus gave us an example of what to say.

“And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.” ~ Luke 11:1-4 (KJV)

Jesus explained how God will answer the prayers of those who truly seek His will.

“And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if [he ask] a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall [your] heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” ~ Luke 11:9-13 (KJV)

And we are instructed to continue in prayer, without ceasing.

“Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.” ~ Acts 12:5 (KJV)

“For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;” ~ Romans 1:9 (KJV)

“For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received [it] not [as] the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.” ~ 1 Thessalonians 2:13 (KJV)

“Pray without ceasing.” ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV)

“I thank God, whom I serve from [my] forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;” ~ 2 Timothy 1:3 (KJV)

Excuse me, but I need to go off alone for a quiet time of prayer~ praising and thanking and honoring and confessing and forgiving and requesting and surrendering before my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

And please, God, let me continue to have an attitude of prayer, clean before You, praising and thanking and beseeching with every breath I take. Amen.

“Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.” ~ Psalm 150:6 (KJV)
