Pledging Support and Encouragement

“And they answered Joshua, saying, ‘All that you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go. Just as we obeyed Moses in all things, so we will obey you; only may the LORD your God be with you, as He was with Moses. Anyone who rebels against your command and does not obey your words in all that you command him, shall be put to death; only be strong and courageous.'” ~ Joshua 1:16-18 (NASB)

The officers of the people had been commanded by Joshua to prepare the people for the crossing of the Jordan River into the promised land. Their response was not only respectful, but encouraging.

God had told Joshua three times to be strong and courageous. Now the people were telling him the same! Do you think God wanted him to be strong and courageous?? 🙂

We need to remember to encourage and build each other up. These men of Israel were coming alongside their leader not only to pledge obedience but also to remind him what God had commanded him to do. Let’s help each other stay obedient and walk courageously with God.

Be strong and courageous!
