Be Strong and Very Courageous

After the death of Moses, God spoke with Joshua and encouraged him.

“‘No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go. This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.'” ~ Joshua 1:5-9 (NASB)

I love this! God promised to Joshua:

No man would be able to stand before him.
He would be with him, just like He had been with Moses.
He would never fail him or forsake him.
He would give the people possession of the promised land.
He would prosper Joshua and give him success.
He would be with him wherever he went.

Take note that Joshua had some things expected of him:

He needed to be strong and courageous.
He needed to lead the people to take possession of the promised land.
He needed to be strong and very courageous.
He needed to be careful to obey all the law.
He needed to follow all of God’s commandments, not turning to the right or to the left.
He needed to meditate on the law continually, to speak God’s words and never stray from them.
He was commanded to be strong and courageous!
He needed to keep from trembling and from dismay, and to put his trust in God.

What beautiful promises from God, for all of us who choose to follow His commandments and put our trust in Him. We need to be studying and meditating on God’s word continually, so that we may know it and be obedient.

Be strong and very courageous today, and trust in God, for He is with you wherever you go. Choose to walk His path, with Him, always and forever. Amen!
