The Joy of Advent!

Today is the third Sunday of Advent~ JOY! Christmas is two weeks from today, wow. It is amazing how quickly it comes, and how too soon it is over. Yet the hope, peace, and joy of Advent and Christmas can be in your heart all year long when you choose to believe, trust, and walk with Jesus! There is no greater joy to be found than on the road that leads to heaven. 🙂

A lot of the Advent literature has the third Sunday as love, but when we first began celebrating Advent when our kiddos were little, we found info that said the third candle was for joy. That was really quite perfect, because our third child went by a name at the time that had only one more letter added, and he definitely was full of joy as a little guy, especially when it was his turn with the lighter! Whatever order you decide on is fine. We choose joy next!

Here are some joy-filled verses to read this week:

“But let all who take refuge in Thee be glad, let them ever sing for joy; and mayest Thou shelter them, that those who love Thy name may exult in Thee.” ~ Psalm 5:11

“And my soul shall rejoice in the LORD; it shall exult in His salvation.” ~ Psalm 35:9

“Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion in the far north, the city of the great King.” ~ Psalm 48:2

“The afflicted also shall increase their gladness in the LORD, and the needy of mankind shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.” ~ Isaiah 29:19

“And when they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.” ~ Matthew 2:10

“And the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.'” ~ Luke 2:10-11

“‘In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.'” ~ Luke 15:10

“‘These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.'” ~ John 15:11

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” ~ Romans 15:13

“and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.” ~ 1 Peter 1:8-9

Happy Christmas! “‘Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.'” ~ Nehemiah 8:10b
