Who is the LORD?

Because Moses kept questioning God, Aaron was called by God to speak for Moses. “Then Moses and Aaron went and assembled all the elders of the sons of Israel; and Aaron spoke all the words which the LORD had spoken to Moses. He then performed the signs in the sight of the people. So the people believed; and when they heard that the LORD was concerned about the sons of Israel and that He had seen their affliction, then they bowed low and worshiped.” ~ Exodus 4:29-31

The people of Israel must have been so comforted to hear that God cared about them. Sometimes we just need a word of encouragement, a reminder of God’s faithfulness and His promises, in order to keep hoping and waiting during the trials of life.

The next step was to speak with Pharaoh. “And afterward Moses and Aaron came and said to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, ‘Let My people go that they may celebrate a feast to Me in the wilderness’.’ But Pharaoh said, ‘Who is the LORD that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the LORD, and besides, I will not let Israel go.'” ~ Exodus 5:1-2

“Who is the LORD?” That is the big question that people ask even today.

Many ask with the same disdain that Pharaoh seemed to have. “Who is the LORD that I should obey His voice?” “Why should I have to obey this ‘God’?”

But some people are truly wondering, “Who is God?” How can we help to answer their question?

We are called to be like Jesus. He showed us how we should love one another, love our enemies, and love God by obeying Him. “‘A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.'” ~ John 13:34-35. The “one another” means all people.

The more we study our Bibles, the closer we draw to Jesus, the more we will understand how to love others with His love. And God will show us ways to live that love, whether in word or deed.

And when people ask you about God, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth.” ~ 2 Timothy 2:15

There are lots of false teachers and doctrines in the world. We need to make sure that we KNOW our Bibles and our Saviour, so that we can show the world the Way, the Truth, and the Life!
