Armageddon

In Revelation 19:11-16, John gives us a description of Jesus at His second coming to earth. He is coming to judge and to wage war, and He is coming as the “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS”. Yet the antichrist and the kings and armies of the earth will still ride out for battle against Him.

“And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies, assembled to make war against Him who sat upon the horse, and against His army. And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone. And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat upon the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh.” ~Revelation 19:19-21

There will be no question Who is in control, Who has always been in control. The beast and the false prophet will be seized and thrown alive into the lake of fire. Satan cannot stop any of this from happening. God had allowed what power and authority he had up to this point. And it is now over. Everyone else is killed with the sword from the mouth of Jesus- the Word of God. I wonder if that means He will speak and they will die? We don’t know how exactly this will all play out, but we do know how it all ends.

The lake of fire was created for, and intended for, Satan and his demons. How ironic that the first two occupants are people- the beast (the antichrist) and the false prophet.

When  Adam and Eve chose to rebel against God in the garden, suddenly sin entered the perfect Creation and had to be dealt with. Death, destruction, disease, heartache all became part of life on this earth. Sin must be punished, bad decisions have consequences, but Jesus paid the price when He died on the cross for us. God’s plan provides a way- Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life-for mankind to avoid the lake of fire and its eternal punishment and torture. He wants us all to choose to follow Jesus and choose life eternally with God. All we have to do is accept His gift and believe on Him and be saved from having to pay the price ourselves.

In Revelation 20:1-3, Satan is bound with a great chain by one angel and is locked up in the abyss for a thousand years. Again, Satan is suddenly powerless! His power had been allowed by God, and now it is gone. Jesus is victorious. The armies of earth are no match for the armies of heaven! Hallelujah! Praise ye the Lord!  🙂
