“And the seventh angel sounded; and there arose loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.'” ~Revelation 11:15
The seventh trumpet has been sounded. Jesus will take the earth back from the prince, Satan, and declare it His kingdom.
The Church will fall on their faces and worship God, “saying, ‘We give Thee thanks, O Lord God, the Almighty, who art and who wast, because Thou hast taken Thy great power and hast begun to reign…'” ~Revelation 11:17
“And the temple of God which is in heaven was opened; and the ark of His covenant appeared in His temple, and there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder and an earthquake and a great hailstorm.” ~Revelation 11:19
The temple built on the earth was modeled after the temple in heaven. The temple has always been specifically for God’s chosen people, the Israelites. There was an outer court for the Gentiles, but they weren’t allowed any further. God’s special relationship with Israel is spoken of throughout the Bible, and though they have been unbelievably persecuted throughout history, they have also been protected and restored by God. What other nation was taken away to exile and then given back their land hundreds of years later? Even now, people are plotting the demise of Israel. In the coming years, and the Tribulation, God will intervene supernaturally to protect His chosen people in spectacular ways.
We the Church aren’t involved with the temple. Jesus is our High Priest and has torn the veil open to the Holy of Holies, so we have complete access to God. I don’t completely understand all about the temple, but that’s okay. It’s all in God’s hands, and that’s good enough for me.
The ark of the covenant represents the presence of God Himself. The temple in heaven opens, and the ark of the covenant appears there. In the coming chapter, John will tell of the troubles of Israel, and how God provides for them. He is preparing to take the earth as His kingdom. There are rumblings in heaven.
