Readiness and Renewing of the Mind

It is so easy to fall into discouragement and despair. Rejection. Hurtful words and actions. Exhaustion. Overwhelming circumstances. Even the negativity from the world around us- don’t forget (how can we?!), this election season is in high gear. Sigh. How can we escape those negative, destructive thoughts that creep into our mind and soul?

By turning to God’s Word, of course. 🙂

“Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: because he trusteth in thee.” ~ Isaiah 26:3 (KJV) I need to “stay” my mind and my thoughts on the LORD, and trust in Him.

“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” ~ Matthew 22:37 (KJV) Love God with ALL my mind.

“And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.” ~ Luke 12:29 (KJV) Guard against creeping doubt, remembering God’s promises and His faithfulness. He is good and trustworthy!

“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” ~ Acts 17:11 (KJV) Ready my mind to learn from the Bible, filling it with knowledge from God as I study.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” ~ Romans 12:2 (KJV) Let the Holy Spirit renew my mind, transforming me.

“That ye may with one mind [and] one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” ~ Romans 15:6 (KJV) Join with fellow believers to glorify and praise God!

“For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” ~ 1 Corinthians 2:16 (KJV) Remember~ being saved by grace through faith means we can have the mind of Christ!

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” ~ 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV) Oh, this is a good reminder. Fearfulness is not from God. He gives us power through His Holy Spirit, love, and a sound mind.

“Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;” ~ 1 Peter 1:13 (KJV) Gird your mind! Put on armor, to protect it from those damaging thoughts that destroy and discourage. Be on guard, be serious, and be filled with hope!

Paul tells us:
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.” ~ Philippians 4:8 (KJV) Amen!
